BEXLEY RAPIST JAILED
A man identified as Darius Stasionis, an illegal immigrant from Lithuania, who arrived in Britain in February 2003 after serving a six-year jail sentence for robbery, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual assaults in Thamesmead during the summer of 2003.He carried out his attacks over an 80-day period, which included raping a 21-year-old woman and attempting to rape a 20-year-old woman with a screwdriver, among other assaults.
He was apprehended after being seen with scratches on his chest and neck and was convicted by a jury at the Inner London Crown Court.
The court sentenced him to 21 years in jail, and he will be placed on the sex offenders' register for life and deported after serving his sentence.
