JAIL FOR WOULD-BE RAPIST WHO CRAWLED INTO WOMAN'S HOUSE AS SHE SLEPT
A man who crawled into a woman’s house through her window while she was asleep and tried to rape her has been jailed.Danilo Silva, of Jansons Road, Tottenham, was sentenced to six years behind bars for attempted rape and indecent assault.
The 33-year-old climbed a drainpipe to gain access to a first floor window at the victim’s Brent home, before creeping into her living room where she was asleep on the sofa.
He attempted to rape her before running away.
Police were called and the woman identified Silva the next day.
Detective Sergeant Steve Grainger, investigating officer, said: "Silva made a concerted effort to enter an address with the sole intent of committing a serious sexual assault." "I would like to praise the victim for having the confidence and courage to report her ordeal to police.
Her evidence was supported by witnesses who should also be praised.
I hope today's sentencing gives them some sort of closure and also displays the professionalism and commitment of officers within the Met to investigate allegations of sexual crime to a satisfactory conclusion."
