MAN THREATENING EX AND LEADING POLICE ON 154MPH CHASE
A man named Daniel Town, aged 32, made threatening and violent statements to his then girlfriend, declaring he would 'blow her head off' and that he would 'throw acid in her face.' These threats were made during multiple monitored calls from Moorland Prison in Yorkshire in April 2019, where Town was serving time for previous offenses.Prosecutor Alison Mather outlined that Town threatened to kill her, injure her with acid, and stated, 'It’s a good job I can’t get near you today, I swear down I will f****** kill you.' He also warned, 'You will be getting acid in your face you stupid little b******,' and said he would 'murder' her and 'terrorize' her.
The victim refused to give a statement, and her mother, who overheard the conversations, also declined to comment to police.
The judge, Philip Parry, described Town’s threats as 'utterly vile' and 'prolonged, chilling threats,' calling him 'violent and a bully.' Following his release from jail, Town was involved in a dangerous pursuit on the M55 in Lancashire.
Police officers spotted his vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, at around 4.52am while he was allegedly intoxicated.
The pursuit ended when Town accelerated up to 154 mph, forcing officers to abandon the chase.
The vehicle was later found abandoned at Penrith Railway Station, with Town escaping into a taxi before police stopped him.
Town was arrested after a short foot pursuit but refused to comment during police interview.
He is currently serving a four-year sentence for dealing Class A drugs and has a long record with convictions for robbery, wounding, affray, dangerous driving, and breaching court orders.
He was sentenced to an additional 20 months for the dangerous driving, to run consecutively, and disqualified from driving for three years with a requirement to pass an extended re-test.
