A man described by police as a “dangerous rapist” has been jailed for drugging and raping a woman after luring her to a remote car park in Lancashire.
Akaash Ibra, 30, was found guilty at Preston Crown Court of a single count of rape following an attack in June 2023 on an isolated road in Cliviger.
The woman was known to him.
The court heard he deliberately isolated her, drugged her and carried out the attack — before messaging her on Snapchat the next day “as if everything was normal”.
Ibra, formerly of Halifax, denied the offence but was unanimously convicted by a jury.
A judge ruled he is a dangerous offender and sentenced him to 15 years in total: 10 years in prison Five years on extended licence.
He must serve at least two-thirds of the custodial sentence before being considered for parole.
In a powerful statement, the victim spoke of the lasting trauma, feelings of betrayal and self-blame she has endured since the attack, describing the courage it took to face him in court.
Detectives said Ibra poses a clear ongoing risk to women and praised the victim’s strength in coming forward, adding they hope the case encourages others to report sexual offences.
