PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT OUT BY AN UNDERCOVER POLLICE OFFICER
During a court session, a paedophile emotionally reacted as details emerged about his offenses, which involved encouraging a teenager to perform a sexual act and requesting images of her breasts.Daniel Razak, who believed he was talking to a 13-year-old girl, quickly shifted the tone of the conversation to sexual topics.
Unbeknownst to him, he was speaking with an undercover officer from the child sex abuse unit, whose purpose is to identify individuals with a sexual interest in children.
Razak, a resident of Mendip Avenue in Orford, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to multiple charges including attempting to communicate sexually with a minor, trying to incite a child to sexual acts, encouraging a child to watch sexual content, and possessing cannabis.
Prosecutor Alaric Walmsley stated that police received information last year that Razak had engaged in sexual chat via Kik Messenger from September 5 to September 8, with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
He explained how the defendant quickly sexualised the chat with a contact named ‘Poppy,’ who was actually an undercover officer operating in teen chat mode.
Razak sent explicit images to Poppy, claiming to be 19, and asked her to perform a sexual act on herself.
He also added her on Snapchat.
The conversations ended after four days, and Razak was arrested subsequently.
His Samsung phone was seized; although it lacked any child abuse images/videos, his internet search history contained terms like ‘jail bait girl’ and ‘jail bait girl Twitter.’ The explicit images he had sent were stored on his phone, and cannabis was found on his living room table.
In police interviews, Razak, who is a father, expressed that he did not fully understand his actions and did not believe he was attracted to children.
The prosecution highlighted that he has no previous convictions.
Defending, Simon Christie noted that Razak ceased contact with the undercover officer early, between September 5 and 8, before police became aware of his actions.
The defence described Razak as remorseful and ashamed, emphasising his stable employment and family support.
The judge, Robert Trevor-Jones, sentenced Razak to 20 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, along with 20 days of community rehabilitation, 160 hours of unpaid work, a 10-year registration on the sex offenders register, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
