DANIEL PLUMSTEAD SENTENCED TO 28 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCE IN HAVANT AND SOUTHSEA
A 35-year-old man from Southsea has been given a custodial sentence of 28 months after being found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a minor in Havant.The incident came to light following a report received on Sunday, 11 July 2021, regarding a 14-year-old girl who was indecently touched by an adult at an address in Havant.
The police launched a thorough investigation into the allegations, enlisting the support of specialist officers tasked with supporting the victim throughout the process.
As a result of this inquiry, Daniel Plumstead, who resides on Fawcett Road in Southsea, was arrested and subsequently charged with crimes related to sexual activity with a child.
After nearly two years of legal proceedings, Plumstead’s case reached its culmination at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday, 15 June 2023.
During the hearing, the defendant was found guilty of the charges and was sentenced the same day.
His punishment includes a prison term of 28 months.
Additionally, Plumstead was sentenced to an extra month behind bars for a bail act offence, which will be served consecutively to his main sentence.
Beyond imprisonment, Plumstead is required to sign the sex offenders register for a period of ten years.
Moreover, he is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), also lasting ten years.
The investigation was led by Detective Constable Paul Osborne, who expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
He stated, “This result sends a clear message that we investigate these kinds of reports thoroughly.
I’m pleased that we’ve secured justice for the victim, who can move forward with her life safe in the knowledge that Plumstead is in prison.” DC Osborne emphasized the importance of the police response to sexual abuse allegations, noting the existence of specially trained teams that investigate such offences and provide support to victims.
He added, “We take all allegations of sexual abuse extremely seriously, and we have specially trained teams that can investigate these kinds of offences and provide support to victims.
