SWANSEA MAN WITH PAST ASSAULTS BENDS METAL BAR IN BRUTAL ATTACK ON GIRLFRIEND
A man who had previously assaulted an ex-partner and then beat his new girlfriend so severely with a metal bar that it bent has been involved in a violent assault. Daniel Maydon-Lowe, aged 33, met Elizabeth Buckley through Facebook, and they moved together in Swansea. Miss Buckley, originally from Essex, described their relationship as 'perfect'. On August 28, after they had been out drinking in the city center, they returned home. Maydon-Lowe then threatened his partner, initially making her think he was joking, but soon he pushed her to the floor, grabbed her around the throat, making it difficult for her to breathe, then grabbed her by her hair and pushed her down again. She recalls seeing him holding a metal bar, which he used to hit her multiple times, causing the bar to bend. During the assault, he also stomped on her leg and pushed her down the stairs. Passers-by helped her call 999 to get help. City magistrates heard that in May, Maydon-Lowe had already received a community order for an earlier assault on a previous partner. Since he admitted to assaulting his partner, the magistrates decided the case was too serious for them to sentence and ordered him to appear at Swansea Crown Court for sentencing.
