DANIEL LOVEGROVE FROM FORFAR CONVICTED OF DOMESTIC ABUSE IN SCOTLAND

A resident of Forfar, Daniel Lovegrove, has been found guilty of a series of serious domestic abuse offences that spanned nearly four years. The conviction was handed down at Forfar Sheriff Court, where the court heard detailed accounts of his troubling behaviour directed towards his former partner.

Between April 2019 and January 2023, Lovegrove engaged in a pattern of threatening, intimidating, and abusive conduct that was classified as domestic in nature. These incidents took place not only in Forfar but also extended to Dundee, highlighting a troubling pattern of behaviour across multiple locations within Scotland.

The court proceedings revealed that Lovegrove repeatedly sent threatening messages to his former partner, harassing her in an attempt to rekindle their relationship despite clear signs of distress. He also made offensive and derogatory remarks about her new partner, even going as far as to threaten violence against him. Such actions demonstrated a persistent pattern of intimidation and control.

It was also disclosed that Lovegrove, despite having a previous conviction for stalking, continued to harass the woman by contacting her workplace and other individuals in her social circle. His efforts appeared aimed at gathering personal information and exerting further influence over her life.

In addition to these aggressive acts, Lovegrove manipulated the situation by blaming the woman for his own suicidal tendencies. He made threats of self-harm, attempting to shift responsibility and evoke sympathy, which added a further layer of concern regarding his mental state and the severity of his actions.

The court has scheduled sentencing for March 3, and has ordered background reports to be prepared ahead of the hearing. Until then, Lovegrove remains on bail, but the case underscores the ongoing issues surrounding domestic abuse and the importance of legal intervention to protect victims.
