LANCASHIRE MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER OF GIRLFRIEND DURING SEX
Daniel Lancaster, aged 25 and from Colne in Lancashire, was found guilty of manslaughter after confessing to strangling his girlfriend, Anna Banks, during a sexual encounter at their residence on Hawley Street.The court was informed that Lancaster explained to the jury that Banks supposedly enjoyed being choked during intimacy.
Police attended the flat on December 22 following a call from Lancaster, discovering Banks' body inside.
An autopsy indicated she died of asphyxiation, with evidence showing her neck had been compressed for a minimum of 30 seconds, likely longer.
Lancaster was acquitted of murder but received a four-year prison sentence for her manslaughter.
The incident was described as a heinous crime, representing a heartbreaking tragedy for Banks' relatives, who maintained dignity throughout the proceedings.
Lancashire Police Inspector Mark Rothwell stated that he hoped the sentence would aid her family in coping with their grief and condemned the act as needless and devastating.
