HEMEL HEMPSTEAD MAN DANIEL KENCHINGTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community of Hemel Hempstead, a local man named Daniel Kenchington has been handed a significant legal sentence after being found in possession of a large collection of indecent images of children.The incident came to light in February of the previous year when authorities, acting on a tip or routine investigation, executed a search warrant at Kenchington’s residence.
Officers from the child online safety team arrived at his home, which is situated within Hemel Hempstead, and conducted a thorough search of his property.
During the raid, three computers were seized for examination.
The investigation revealed a disturbing collection of illegal material stored on these devices.
Prosecutor Vanessa Mistry, presenting the case at St Albans Crown Court, detailed that Kenchington, aged 29 at the time, initially denied any involvement with child abuse images.
However, he later admitted that there might be some illicit content on his laptop located in his bedroom.
Following the seizure, forensic analysis of the computers uncovered a total of 115 indecent images and videos depicting children.
These images were classified into different categories based on their severity.
Among them, 12 still images and 19 videos were classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of abuse.
Additionally, there were 22 still images and 23 videos categorized as Category B, and 39 still images along with 3 videos fell into Category C, which is considered less severe but still illegal.
The children depicted in these images ranged in age from as young as 4 years old up to 16 years old.
The material had been downloaded over a period spanning from March 23, 2020, to December 14, 2020, highlighting a sustained period of illegal activity.
Daniel Kenchington appeared before the court to face sentencing after pleading guilty to three charges related to the creation and downloading of indecent images of children.
The court heard the details of his actions and the severity of the material involved.
Judge Richard Foster addressed Kenchington directly, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses.
He stated, “These children are abused for the purpose of making these films.
You create a market for them.” During the hearing, the judge also remarked on Kenchington’s awareness of the wrongfulness of his actions, saying, “You know it is wrong and you must be ashamed of yourself.
Real people have suffered real abuse to satisfy the perverted sexual motives of others.” Kenchington responded with a nod as the judge delivered his sentence.
In light of the guilty plea and the circumstances, Judge Foster sentenced Kenchington to six months in prison, but this was suspended for 18 months.
As part of his rehabilitation, Kenchington is required to complete 30 days of supervised rehabilitation programs, perform 100 hours of unpaid community work, and pay a fine of £360.
Furthermore, he is mandated to register as a sex offender and must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for a period of seven years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further offenses.
