CONTROLLING BOYFRIEND JAILED FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN LOUGHTON
Daniel Hodges has received a life sentence following his conviction for the murder of his former girlfriend, Gillian Andrade, in Loughton.During the court proceedings, it was established that he was a controlling and aggressive individual who worked as an oil rig worker off the Scottish coast but rented a room in the house where the killing occurred.
The prosecution revealed that Hodges and Ms Andrade had been in a romantic relationship and had met on the night she was murdered.
Evidence indicated he used a knife to kill her because he suspected she was seeing someone else.
Hodges confessed to the crime, and justice was served with a life sentence that includes a minimum term of 17.5 years.
Gillian Andrade was 39 years old at the time, while Hodges was 31.
The court described him as having a volatile temper and controlling tendencies, and her family remembered Gillian as a lively woman who trusted Hodges until his jealousy led to her downfall.
The sentence underscores the gravity of his actions, meaning he must serve at least 17.5 years before possibly being considered for parole.
