STOWMARKET SEX OFFENDER DANIEL GIBBS JAILED FOR ONLINE CHATS WITH DECOY CHILDREN
A convicted sex offender named Daniel Gibbs has been sentenced to three years in prison after engaging in online conversations about sex with individuals he believed to be minors, who were actually volunteers from paedophile hunter groups posing as schoolgirls.During these chats, Gibbs claimed to be a swimming coach and made inappropriate advances, including sending a naked photograph of himself to a girl he thought was 13 and discussing her school uniform and underwear.
He also expressed a desire to see the girl's vagina, knickers, and school uniform when she mentioned being in the bath.
Gibbs sent a photo of his erect penis to another decoy girl also pretending to be 13 and encouraged her to touch herself sexually.
The court was informed that Gibbs had a criminal history dating back to 2007, when as a 15-year-old he sexually assaulted a girl under 13 and later raped a boy under 13.
The judge, Recorder Emma Nash, described Gibbs as a danger to children and noted that if the decoy children had been real, they would have endured significant trauma.
She also mentioned that Gibbs had told the decoy girls to delete their messages because he knew his actions were wrong and could lead to imprisonment.
In addition to the jail sentence, Gibbs was subject to a 20-year sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life.
Prosecutor Marc Brown stated Gibbs was arrested following online chats with paedophile hunter groups 'Angels of Innocence' and 'Justice Reborn', where he claimed to be a swimming coach.
The court stated that Gibbs admitted to three offences: attempted sexual communication with a child, incitement of a child to engage in sexual activity, and sending nude pictures of himself.
Despite his criminal past, Gibbs expressed genuine remorse, claiming he was lonely and bored when he committed these recent offences after nearly 17 years without trouble.
