DRINKER THREATENED TO 'PUT HOLES' IN KIDS HE FOLLOWED THROUGH YORKSHIRE CITY
During a disturbance in Hull, a man armed with a knife issued a warning to a group of terrified teenagers, saying: "If any of you touch me, I will puncture every one of you." Daniel Edwards, notorious for his heavy alcohol consumption, chased a young male through the streets of Hull, with a visible knife in hand.Additionally, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a party, as reported in court.
The 37-year-old resident of Albemarle Street near Anlaby Road in western Hull pleaded guilty to charges of threatening with a weapon and sexual assault.
According to prosecutor Harry Bradford, the knife incident occurred on June 20 last year when Edwards pulled out a craft knife and pursued a teenage boy around Hull’s Boulevard and Selby Street while shouting insults.
The weapon was clearly on display during the confrontation, Hull Live reported.
"The knife was held at waist level during this time," Mr Bradford stated.
Edwards told a group including the teenage boy: "Any of you lot touch me and I’ll put holes in all of you." He then trailed the group with the knife in sight.
The confrontation lasted around 30 minutes until Edwards left, leading bystanders to contact police.
Mr Bradford emphasized that "there was a risk of serious disorder".
The sexual assault took place during a social gathering at an address in Hull, where a 15-year-old girl had been consuming cannabis and alcohol.
She suspected the joints were laced with something else, so she retired to a bedroom to sleep.
When she woke, Edwards was behind her, and others in the room were asleep.
He tried to comfort her, saying: "It’s going to be okay," while breathing on her neck.
He also pressured her into drinking more, offering her another lager can.
Despite her repeated pleas for him to stop, saying: "You’re making me uncomfortable.
Move your hand.
Get off me," Edwards sexually touched her.
The girl feared he might perform a more serious sexual act, because Edwards called her "princess" during the incident.
Afterwards, she spoke to her mother about what happened.
Edwards later denied intentionally touching her when questioned by police.
Possessing 26 previous convictions—none of a sexual nature—he was sentenced in May 2023 to 14 weeks for driving whilst disqualified.
Defense solicitor Rachel Scott pointed out that Edwards had been held for about eight months while awaiting trial.
His employment history includes work in factories and warehouses, as well as serving as a driver with the Royal Logistics Corps in the Army Reserves.
He has struggled with alcohol dependency.
Miss Scott remarked: "His primary issue is drinking.
It’s ruining his life, and he hopes to return to London for a fresh start." Ultimately, Edwards received a three-year prison term and a ten-year sex offender registration requirement.
