ACCRINGTON MAN WHOSE PHOTO PERVERT CONVICTION WAS QUASHED AFTER INVASION OF PRIVACY
A man named Daniel Edmunds, aged 20, was involved in taking photographs of teenage girls' bottoms using a mobile phone camera.Despite being banned from possessing photographic equipment due to previous convictions, he was found in possession of a camera mobile phone shortly after his release and subsequent license revocation.
Edmunds admitted to taking photos of women for sexual gratification but denied deliberately snapping children or that the images were for sexual purposes.
He had previously been convicted by Hyndburn Magistrates Court of breaching a Sex Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) imposed in June 2004, which prohibited him from engaging in behaviors that could cause harassment, alarm, or distress.
During the court proceedings, his conviction was quashed because the girls in the photographs did not realize they had been photographed.
He was currently serving a custodial sentence, and his earlier SOPO had been extended indefinitely following amendments.
Personal safety campaigners criticized the court's decision, emphasizing that such behavior invades women's privacy and causes significant distress.
