DAN WHITLOCK JAILED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH SEX OFFENDER CONDITIONS
A former public house chef and convicted sex offender has been sentenced to prison for failing to check in with police for the third time.Dan Whitlock, 36 years old, failed to notify authorities of his location on three separate occasions.
He was originally given a Community Order in November 2010 after being convicted of two offences involving sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16.
On October 20, officers arrived at his last known address, The Vine Inn in Romsey, but Whitlock refused to come forward when asked to present himself, a Southampton Crown Court was told.
He appeared before the court charged with failing to comply with the notification requirements of a sexual harm prevention order and breaching a suspended sentence—he had previously pleaded guilty to these offences.
During the hearing, defence solicitor Berenice Mulvanny stated that Whitlock did not breach his order by committing new offences, but rather by 'sticking his head in the sand.' The court subsequently sentenced him to ten months in prison.
