MAN WITH 'BLESSED' TATTOO ON FACE SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND STRANGULATION
Damien Evans, of Prescot Road in St Helens, has been convicted of multiple instances of domestic violence including two counts of intentional strangulation and assault.His abusive behavior included throttling his partner until she passed out, pinning her to the bed, grabbing her around the neck, and strangling her on several occasions.
He also threatened to take his own life and made alarming threats towards his partner, including fake wrist-slashing motions and threats to harm himself, while expressing love for her.
His violence escalated after he began flirting with other women on TikTok, which led to a confrontation during which he slapped her phone from her hand, charged at her, and strangled her on the sofa.
He also threatened separation and followed her to her flat, where he continued his aggressive behavior, claiming she 'wasn't f***ing leaving him.' The victim described the emotional trauma inflicted by Evans, stating that she is 'destroyed' by his actions.
Evans has a history of convictions, including a domestic violence offense in 2016.
During court proceedings, Evans appeared distressed and admitted to stopping steroid use during his custody period, which he linked to his previous violence.
The court sentenced him to 16 months in prison and imposed a five-year restraining order.
The judge highlighted Evans' lack of learning from past behavior, emphasizing that he had continued using steroids and engaging in violence towards women, despite previous convictions.
Family and friends described Evans as kind-hearted and caring, noting his background of bullying, childhood domestic violence, and substance use, which contributed to his current issues.
