ROMANIAN SERIAL RAPIST JAILED FOR 13 YEARS IN CLEETHORPES
Cristian-Adrian Lascu, age 43, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for attacking a woman in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, in February of the previous year.It has been disclosed that he had previously served a total of more than 32 years in Romanian prison and was released early from a 12-year sentence for burglary, during which he broke into a family home and assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
During the incident in Cleethorpes, Lascu targeted a vulnerable woman walking home after a night out.
He, along with an accomplice who remains at large, forced the victim into an alleyway and sexually assaulted her, with Lascu claiming that women in Cleethorpes were 'easy' and would 'come at you' on nights out.
The victim now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and cannot leave her house alone after dark, expressing that she has become withdrawn and anxious.
Prosecutor Richard Woolfall stated, 'She had been shy but very independent, but subsequently she has become withdrawn and anxious.' Judge Simon Jack sentenced Lascu to 13 years and remarked, 'You have badly affected her life.' Additionally, Lascu was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and will be on extended release supervision for five years after his release, with the possibility of deportation.
It was also revealed that he spent substantial time in prison in Romania, receiving more than 32 years and serving 20 before relocating to Britain to seek employment.
In 2005, he received a 12-year sentence for burglary, assaulting a minor, and theft, but was released early to move to Grimsby to work at a restaurant.
Lascu was known to patrol the seaside resort seeking targets.
Detective Chief Inspector Sharon Wood of Humberside Police commented that Lascu selected his victim carefully, preying on her vulnerable state, and emphasized that he will no longer pose a threat to the community.
She praised the victim's courage in giving evidence to bring Lascu to justice and assured that police investigations are thorough and supportive of victims.
