KIRKCALDY MAN JAILED FOR STREET ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER
A MAN who punched his former partner in a Lochgelly street has been jailed.Craig Russell, 26, now of Dallas Drive, Kirkcaldy, had previously admitted that on February 26, at West Park in Lochgelly, he assaulted his former partner and punched her on the head, causing her to fall and sustain injuries.He also behaved in a threatening and abusive manner, shouting, swearing, and acting aggressively on the same day.Prosecutor Freya Anderson stated that Russell had gone to speak to his ex about seeing their child, and during a confrontation outside, he ran towards them with a pram, caught up with the woman, and stood in front of her, shouting and swearing.According to Ms.

One punch connected with her face causing her to fall to the ground.
He continued shouting and swearing and stated something similar to 'Do you want more?'"The complainer sustained a one cm laceration to her top lip, grazing to her right elbow and wrist, swelling to her left eye, and a scratch to her right cheek."Defense solicitor Alexander Flett explained that the offense was out of frustration due to the breakdown of contact with his child and admitted that Russell lost his temper and struck her.Sheriff Alastair Brown sentenced Russell to nine months in jail and imposed a non-harassment order banning contact with the ex-partner for two years.
The sheriff emphasized the unacceptability of street assault and assault on an ex-partner, condemning punching a woman as "contemptuous."
