CRAIG ROCK FROM COWDENBEATH INVOLVED IN DOMESTIC ABUSE INCIDENT IN FALKIRK AND DALGETY BAY
A repeated offender in cases of domestic violence, Craig Rock, was involved in a violent altercation with his fiancée following a night of heavy drinking.The incident took place in Cowdenbeath, where Rock resides, and involved a series of aggressive behaviors that left his partner injured and distressed.
According to reports, Rock, of Union Street, Kelty, woke his fiancée abruptly during the early hours after a night spent consuming alcohol.
The situation quickly escalated into a physical struggle, during which Rock caused bruising to his partner’s arms.
In the course of the altercation, he also sustained grazes to his nose and a scratch to his rib, indicating that he was involved in a physical fight himself.
The police responded to the scene and found the woman in an extremely upset state.
She was visibly distressed and had visible bruising on her arms, although she declined medical treatment at the time.
The woman recounted that she and Rock had been drinking together, consuming Jack Daniels, and that his behavior had become increasingly difficult as the night progressed.
The couple had initially gone back to her mother’s garden to retrieve some stored alcohol, which they continued to drink upon returning home.
She recalled falling asleep but was awakened by Rock calling her a “liar,” which led to the confrontation.
The court heard that the situation quickly turned violent, with the woman trying to escape from Rock’s grasp.
During the struggle, she admitted to hitting him and even biting his nose in an attempt to defend herself, which resulted in the injury to his nose.
Following the incident, she contacted the police, who arrived to find her in a highly distressed state.
The woman’s account was supported by the physical injuries observed.
Despite the bruising, she chose not to seek medical attention at that time.
In court, defense solicitor Roshni Joshi acknowledged the seriousness of the charges but suggested that the incident might be viewed as a complex situation influenced by alcohol consumption.
She emphasized that Rock, who is engaged to be married soon, has a history of domestic abuse but also pointed out that he has employment, which might indicate some progress in managing his issues.
She also noted that Rock had sustained injuries during the altercation, implying mutual involvement.
Prosecutor Dev Kapadia outlined that Rock had a short relationship with the complainant, lasting approximately four months.
He detailed that on October 28 in Rosyth, Rock behaved in a threatening and abusive manner, which was likely to cause fear and alarm.
Additionally, on January 8, at an address in Dalgety Bay and elsewhere, he left a threatening voicemail for his former partner, further demonstrating a pattern of abusive behavior.
Judge Robert McDonald sentenced Rock to a community payback order with 18 months of supervision.
It was noted that Rock had already served four weeks in custody for the incident.
Furthermore, he was ordered to complete 130 hours of unpaid work as part of his punishment for the January offense.
The court’s decision reflects ongoing concerns about Rock’s history of domestic violence and the need for rehabilitation and supervision to prevent future incidents.
