COURTNEY GRANT FROM DUNDEE ADMITS TO DOMESTIC ABUSE AND VIOLENT BEHAVIOR IN SHOCKING CASE

A woman from Dundee has confessed to a prolonged campaign of domestic abuse that included physical violence and aggressive behavior towards her former partner. Courtney Grant, aged 20, appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court to face charges related to breaches of the Domestic Abuse Scotland Act 2018, which she allegedly committed over nearly three years.

Initially, Grant was accused of a series of abusive acts, but after her former partner provided testimony to the jury, she entered a guilty plea to an amended charge. The court heard that her abusive conduct spanned from April 2021 to January 2024, during which she engaged in a pattern of controlling and aggressive actions.

Among the incidents detailed in court was an assault where Grant struck her partner on the head with a vacuum cleaner, causing injury. She also reportedly threw household items at her victim while she was sleeping, further demonstrating her violent tendencies. The court was also told about a physical struggle that took place near a window on the 11th floor of Bonnethill Court in Dundee, where Grant grabbed her partner by the clothing and smashed her mobile phone, in addition to shouting and swearing at her.

Further disturbing details emerged about Grant’s behavior following their breakup. On February 5 of the previous year, she visited her ex-partner’s new girlfriend’s residence, where she threw stones at the living room window, shouted, and demanded that her former partner leave. The court also heard that on Hogmanay last year, Grant returned to the same location and engaged in another physical altercation.

In addition to these incidents, Grant was reported to have made repeated threats to harm her ex-partner and two other individuals on a separate occasion the day after the Hogmanay incident. The court decided to defer sentencing until October 1 to allow for reports to be prepared, and bail was continued during this period.

This case highlights the serious nature of domestic abuse and the ongoing issues surrounding controlling and violent behavior within intimate relationships, especially in the Dundee area where these events took place.
