STALKER SENT VICTIM 135 MESSAGES TELLING THEM TO LEAVE PARTNER
A man has been sentenced to prison after sending his victim 135 unsolicited messages over a span of two days.Conner Dickens violated a court order by contacting his victim in March of the previous year, a courtheard.
The 28-year-old urged the victim to end her relationship with her partner and sent her abusive messages.
He also sent over 100 messages to one of her friends before police detained him.
Dickens, who resides in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, received a sentence of four years and eight months in prison, with an additional five years on extended licence, after admitting to offences involving stalking that caused significant alarm, distress, and harassment.
He was also instructed to pay court costs amounting to £228 during proceedings at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on October 21.
PC Rhiannon Churchman of the Stoke South policing team stated, “We recognise how deeply stalking and harassment can affect victims, and I’m pleased we could secure this outcome for the individual involved.
Despite having a restraining order in place, Dickens persistently tried to contact the victim.
I hope this case reassures other victims that we will act decisively against such serious offences.” A police spokesperson added, “A resident of Stoke-on-Trent, Dickens, was jailed for nearly five years after stalking a woman and sending her more than 100 messages.
He admitted to harassment involving serious alarm and distress, breaching a restraining order, and was sentenced to nine years and eight months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on October 21.
During a two-day period in March last year, Dickens messaged the woman 135 times through social media channels, ignoring the restraining order.
He also messaged one of her friends over 100 times, repeatedly asking her to leave her partner for him and sending abusive content towards both.
Following these incidents, police intervened and detained Dickens.
His sentence includes four years and eight months in prison plus a five-year extended licence.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay £228 in costs.
