CONNAR TEMPLETON FROM DALMELLINGTON INVOLVED IN SHOCKING INCIDENT NEAR CUMNOCK

In June 2022, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Connar Templeton, a 26-year-old man from Nessglen Road, Dalmellington, who found himself at the center of a police confrontation in the vicinity of Cumnock. The events took place in a wooded area behind a property on Keir Hardie Hill, where Templeton was encountered by law enforcement officers.

According to police reports, Templeton was behaving aggressively and was observed shouting and swearing repeatedly. During the encounter, he made threatening gestures towards the officers and claimed he was armed, a statement that heightened the tension and concern for safety. His behavior was described as highly confrontational, and he refused to comply with police instructions.

Further complicating the situation, Templeton resisted arrest and struggled with two police officers, making the situation even more volatile. These actions occurred while he was on bail, adding to the seriousness of the charges against him. Despite the aggressive conduct, the court proceedings revealed that he had previously avoided jail time for a serious sexual offense involving a young girl.

At Ayr Sheriff Court last week, Templeton appeared to face multiple charges. He pleaded guilty to threatening behavior and resisting arrest, acknowledging his aggressive actions during the incident in Cumnock. A plea of not guilty to an assault charge was entered, but prosecutors accepted this plea, indicating a resolution in that particular matter.

The court decided to adjourn the case to allow for the preparation of criminal justice social work reports, and bail was granted under standard conditions. Templeton is scheduled to return to court at a later date for sentencing.

It is important to note that Templeton’s criminal history includes a conviction from the previous year for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. The incident, which took place on January 24, 2020, involved him making sexual remarks and physically molesting the girl by placing his hand inside her clothing. He was found guilty after a trial at Ayr Sheriff Court and received a two-year community payback order, although he was not required to undertake unpaid work.

Additionally, Templeton was subjected to a five-year sexual offences prevention order and is mandated to register as a sex offender until 2026. The victim’s sister publicly expressed her support for her sister’s bravery in reporting the abuse and giving evidence in court. She described Templeton as a “vile, arrogant, sick, twisted individual” who has shown no remorse for his actions. She also shared her concern about her sister potentially encountering him again, highlighting the ongoing emotional impact of the case.
