SCOTTISH TEEN SEX OFFENDER COLYN EVANS FACES PUBLIC OUTCRY
Almost 500 charges of rape by children and teenagers have been brought by Scottish police forces over the last five years, a TV programme will reveal tonight.Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show that 19 rapes were committed by children aged eight, nine, and ten, and in Grampian a boy of four was suspected of indecent assault.
The father of Karen Dewar, who was killed by one of Scotland's most notorious teenage sex offenders, Colyn Evans, will tell a BBC documentary that the sex offenders list should be made public.
Mr Dewar stated: 'What's the difference between a 25-year-old sex offender and a 15-year-old sex offender?
I don't see any difference.
A sex offence is a sex offence.
What about the victims?
No-one takes them into account.' He also expressed concerns that authorities failed Evans, who was supposed to have received treatment to prevent re-offending.
The documentary, The Dark Side of Teenage Sex, will air at 10.35pm on BBC 1.
