MARRIED SCOTS TEACHER STRUCK OFF FOR GROPING COLLEAGUE AFTER SEXUALLY INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS
Kenneth McDonald, a primary school educator, has been struck off the teaching register due to engaging in inappropriate and sexual misconduct with a female colleague during a school trip. The incident occurred in June 2017 after pupils had gone to sleep, when McDonald was watching a film with the woman.
He made a remark referencing 'motorboating' her breasts, then proceeded to lower her top and began kissing her chest, leaving her frozen with fear.
She warned him that he was married with children and told him to stop, but he only stopped after she asked, 'What the hell are you doing?' She later reported the incident to colleagues, leading to an investigation.
The following day, McDonald apologized but persisted in making inappropriate sexual innuendos, including describing sharing chocolate as 'something chunky.' The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) concluded his behavior amounted to serious misconduct, notably in a residential environment, and found it failed to meet professional standards.
He admitted some allegations and demonstrated partial insight, but the disciplinary panel considered his remorse superficial and noted that he had not learned adequately from the incident.
Consequently, he was deemed unfit to teach and was removed from the register, with a two-year ban on reapplying.
He did not attend the disciplinary hearing but acknowledged his misconduct through a written statement.
The incident had a considerable impact on the woman’s health, and there was evidence of prior inappropriate conduct, including an incident in 2016 where he gave a colleague a plastic penis as part of Secret Santa.
It is reported that he is married; however, no further details such as his age or date of birth are available.
