COLIN DARLINGTON AND HIS SHOCKING ABUSE IN MILTON KEYNES AND WELLINGBOROUGH
A man accused of subjecting vulnerable young girls to a series of heinous sexual crimes in Wellingborough has been officially sentenced to a lengthy prison term.Colin Darlington, aged 51 and residing on Melick Road in the Beanhill area of Milton Keynes, received a sentence of twenty years behind bars at Aylesbury Crown Court.
The sentencing follows a conviction that marked a significant chapter in the ongoing efforts to address historic child abuse crimes.
The court proceedings revealed that Darlington was found guilty of serious sexual offenses committed during the 1990s in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, as well as in Milton Keynes during the 2000s.
The crimes involved the targeting of young female victims, specifically girls aged between 11 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents.
These vulnerable girls endured either rape or other forms of sexual assault carried out by Darlington, whose actions demonstrated a troubling pattern of predatory behavior.
The legal process began when Darlington was formally charged on December 30, 2014.
After a lengthy trial, the court delivered its verdict on October 4, finding him guilty of two counts of rape of a female under 16, along with ten counts of indecent assault.
However, he was acquitted of one additional count of indecent assault, which did not meet the evidential threshold for a conviction.
At the sentencing hearings, His Honour Judge Cole delivered a powerful statement, paying tribute to the victims for their courage in coming forward to share their traumatic experiences.
The judge described Darlington as a ruthless and determined paedophile, highlighting the severity of his crimes and the impact they have had on multiple young lives.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Graeme Williams, of the Thames Valley Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit, emphasized the challenges faced throughout the investigation.
He expressed gratitude for the victims' resilience and bravery in pursuing justice despite the long and demanding process.
Detective Williams added, “These offences have left a lasting scar on the victims’ lives, and I hope the sentence handed down will assist them in beginning to move forward with their lives.” The case underscores the importance of persistent law enforcement efforts in bringing such offenders to justice, and serves as a reminder of the ongoing necessity to protect vulnerable children from predators who operate under the guise of normalcy for decades.
