DARLINGTON SEX OFFENDER WARNING AS HE FACES JAIL FOR BREACHING PROTECTION ORDER
A convicted sex offender has been warned he could be facing a prison sentence after breaching the terms of his sexual harm prevention order.Clive Marchant spent time in the company of two young children over a four-month period without informing people of his conviction.
The 70-year-old was told to arrange for a solicitor to represent him when he returns to Teesside Crown Court for sentence.
Recorder Nicholas Lumley KC adjourned the case for a month to allow time for the pensioner to secure legal representation.
“I’m going to release you on bail until,” he said.
“You must contact a solicitor and tell them what’s going on.
“I’m not making you any promises about what is going to happen to you at the next hearing.” In January 2023, the defendant was handed a 15-month sentence, suspended for two years after being convicted of possessing indecent and prohibited images of children.
He was made subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
