MAN SENT VIDEO OF HIMSELF MASTURBATING TO NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY
A man who previously managed a yacht club shared a video of himself pleasuring himself with a nine-year-old boy.
Additionally, he asked the young boy to send him naked photographs.
Clifford Taylor, aged 40, was found guilty of two counts of communicating sexually with a child after a trial held at Cardiff Crown Court.
Despite the conviction, Taylor denied any wrongdoing and insists he is innocent.
During Monday’s sentencing hearing, it was revealed that the former RNLI volunteer and ex-managing director at Penarth Yacht Club had a prior conviction for blackmail.
He had attempted to extort €12,000 from a man he had engaged in sexual activity with, threatening to distribute private photos and videos to the man's wife.
In March 2020, Taylor advised the young boy not to tell his mother about their interactions.
The victim now requires ongoing counselling due to the impact of these offences.
The court was informed that Taylor, residing in Esplanade, Penarth, is originally from Ireland and faced isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also admitted to consuming excessive alcohol during that time.
Taylor was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison.
He was also ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
