CHRISTOPHER SAMSON FROM STONEHAVEN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN ABERDEEN
In a case that has drawn significant attention, Christopher Sampson, a 43-year-old former instrument technician and delivery driver from Stonehaven, was brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court to face serious charges related to child exploitation images. The incident involved the possession and distribution of indecent photographs of children, which he admitted to during the proceedings. The offences occurred at an address in Aberdeen between January 26, 2011, and March 8 of the following year. During the investigation, authorities discovered a total of 59 indecent images stored on Sampson’s laptop, highlighting the extent of his involvement in the illegal activity.
According to court records, Sampson’s motivation for acquiring these images was not rooted in sexual gratification but was purportedly driven by a desire to expose those involved in the production and dissemination of such material. His defense lawyer, Gail Goodfellow, stated in court, “His explanation is his motivation was not sexual but rather to expose those who were involved in making these images available on the internet.”
Despite this explanation, the court found sufficient grounds to impose a serious penalty. Sheriff Graham Buchanan sentenced Sampson to a Community Payback Order, which includes three years of supervised probation. Additionally, he was mandated to participate in a joint sex offenders programme, reflecting the court’s concern over the nature of the offence and the need for rehabilitation.
Sampson’s address was listed as 5b Barclay Street, Stonehaven, at the time of sentencing, underscoring his local ties to the community. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from harm.
