CHRISTOPHER MOORS FROM SHREWSBURY FACES JAIL AFTER BEING FOUND WITH OVER 5,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Christopher Moores, a 58-year-old resident of Shrewsbury, has been implicated in possessing an alarming collection of indecent images of children. The authorities uncovered that Moores was in possession of more than 5,000 such images, a discovery that has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of minors.Moores appeared before Burnley Crown Court to face multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of child exploitation material. He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, with the images dating from 2008 to 2015. The images included a disturbing variety of categories, with 961 classified as Category A — the most severe and explicit — along with 1,092 images in Category B and 3,071 in Category C. These categories reflect the increasing levels of severity and explicitness of the content involved.
In addition to the possession charges, Moores also admitted to distributing indecent photographs of children, a serious offense that underscores the gravity of his actions. Following his plea, he was granted bail pending sentencing, which is scheduled for July 6. The court, presided over by Judge Jonathan Gibson, approved Moores' conditional release, but issued a stern warning regarding his legal obligations moving forward.
Judge Gibson emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating, “You will get proper credit for your pleas in due course. Having pleaded guilty to a distribution charge, you must know that this is a serious offense, as well as the others, and so a custodial sentence is a distinct possibility.” The judge also reminded Moores that he is now subject to police notification requirements, which involve regular reporting and monitoring due to the nature of his crimes.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable minors from harm.
