CHRISTOPHER DICKSON'S BRUTAL ATTACK ON DOG IN PERTH SPARKS OUTRAGE
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Perth, Christopher James Dickson, born in July 1987 and residing on Balhousie Street, was caught on dashcam brutally kicking his dog after she wandered onto the road. The incident took place on Perth’s Dunkeld Road, and witnesses described a scene of unnecessary cruelty that has since garnered widespread condemnation.According to reports, witnesses who observed the event were horrified by Dickson’s actions. As the dog, a six-and-a-half-year-old pet, strayed onto the street, Dickson, who is a director of The Dunblane Motor Company Ltd, trading as Dicksons of Perth, was seen kicking her on her underside. This forceful act caused the dog to fall to the ground, visibly distressed and injured. The witnesses’ reactions were intense; one individual, particularly upset by what they saw, uploaded the dashcam footage to Facebook, which quickly circulated among the public, drawing attention to the incident.
Police were able to identify Dickson through the footage and subsequent investigations. He later admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by gesticulating at a passing motorist who pointed out his dog’s predicament. During the incident, Dickson raised his middle finger in a gesture of defiance. His admission also included causing the animal unnecessary suffering by kicking her on her body. However, after obtaining legal representation, Dickson changed his plea to not guilty, a decision that was accepted by the Crown, meaning he was not banned from owning animals.
Dickson’s solicitor, Paul Ralph, explained that his client was walking his dog when she unexpectedly strayed from his side. Ralph stated, “The problem was the dog was not on the lead. The dog walked on the road. He administered swift justice, which he would normally have done with a clip round the ear but he’d had an operation to his hand. The dog is six and a half years old and still lives with him.”
During the court proceedings, the sheriff emphasized the community’s values, stating that “this is a dog-loving nation,” and expressed revulsion at Dickson’s actions. The incident is not an isolated event for Dickson, who has a history of legal issues in Perth. In September 2017, he was banned from driving for five years and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work after ignoring a 40-month driving disqualification stemming from a drunken road rage incident. On that occasion, he was caught driving his £37,000 Mercedes without a license and insurance on Balhousie Street.
Further back, Dickson was fined £5,000 and disqualified for over three years after causing an accident that terrified three young children in their parents’ vehicle. At the age of 29, he was convicted of driving with 35 micrograms of alcohol in his system—well above the legal limit of 22—driving carelessly, and behaving threateningly. His criminal record also includes a previous drink-driving conviction from February 2008, which resulted in a £600 fine and a two-year disqualification. The pattern of reckless and irresponsible behavior underscores ongoing concerns about his conduct in the community.
As the case continues to unfold, the community remains deeply concerned about the treatment of animals and the accountability of individuals like Dickson, whose actions have repeatedly brought him before the courts in Perth.
