PRESTATYN MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION OF LONG-TERM PARTNER
A man identified as Christopher Davies subjected his then-partner, Danielle Bowen, to a degrading cocaine-fuelled attack at their home in Prestatyn during a jealous rage.According to the report, Davies repeatedly struck Ms Bowen's head and face while she was lying in bed, after appearing intoxicated and paranoid, and accused her of being unfaithful.
Ms Bowen, shaken and crying, disclosed a further incident three weeks earlier where Davies strangled her.
On that occasion, he took hold of her throat with both hands for several seconds.
Prosecutor Jemma Gordon described that Davies, in a separate incident on November 30, 2024, strangled Ms Bowen when she told him he couldn't borrow a bank card because he had been drinking.
Throughout the investigation, Davies claimed he could not remember much of the evening due to intoxication but admitted to being 'slightly rough' with Ms Bowen.
He was arrested on December 21, 2024, and pleaded guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
The court sentenced him to two years' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, a five-year restraining order was imposed to protect Ms Bowen.
Judge Hobson called the strangulation incident 'very frightening' and the assault 'particularly degrading', emphasizing that Davies was in a jealous rage fueled by alcohol and drugs.
He was offered a 26-session programme, 180 hours of unpaid work, and 120 days of alcohol abstinence, and his prison sentence was suspended due to his lack of prior convictions, guilty plea, and some insight into his actions.
