CHRISTOPHER BACON, JERSEY PREDATORY PAEDOPHILE TEACHER, ADMITS NEW ABUSE CHARGES
In a disturbing development, Christopher Roy Bacon, a former teacher from Jersey with a long history of sexual offenses, has admitted to additional historical abuse charges. The 76-year-old, who previously served a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for abusing six boys at a secondary school in Jersey, appeared in the Royal Court to face new allegations.
During a brief hearing on a recent Friday, Bacon pleaded guilty to five further counts of indecent assault involving four boys, all of whom were under the age of 14 at the time of the offenses.
These new charges date back to the 1970s and 1980s, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior spanning decades.
The court ordered Bacon to return for sentencing before the Inferior Number on Tuesday, October 8.
His criminal history includes a conviction in March 2017, when he was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for abusing boys during the 1970s and 1980s.
At that time, Bacon was described as an arrogant and manipulative individual, a 'predatory paedophile' who exploited his role as a teacher to target vulnerable pupils.
The offences involved six boys aged between 11 and 14 years old, all of whom attended d’Hautree School in Jersey, which closed in the 1990s.
Further back in February 2017, Bacon was convicted following a trial that revealed his pattern of sexual misconduct.
The jury found him guilty of seven charges of indecent assault and one count of procuring an act of gross indecency, all committed against boys at the Jersey secondary school during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The case was heard in the Royal Court, with reporting restrictions in place until the conclusion of a second trial, in which Bacon was acquitted of a separate charge involving a young girl unrelated to the school.
Throughout these proceedings, Bacon has been remanded in custody.
His sentencing is scheduled for 15 March before the Superior Number of the Royal Court, where he will face the consequences of his extensive and disturbing history of abuse.
