COLCHESTER MAN IN HIS 70S JAILED FOR STALKING AND BREACHING PROTECTION ORDER
A man in his seventies named Christopher Allen, who lives in Eight Ash Green, received a prison sentence exceeding two years after admitting to stalking and violating a court order.Allen has a history of stalking, having been convicted three times previously, including a recent incident where he broke a full Stalking Protection Order (SPO).
In June, he was reported for following young women in Witham and Colchester, dedicating over 12 hours daily to giving gifts and making unwanted sexual remarks that were unreciprocated.
The victims promptly reported his behavior, leading to his detention on July 2 at his home.
He faced charges of stalking, breaching his suspended sentence conditions, and violating his SPO twice.
Allen pleaded guilty in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
Later, in Ipswich Crown Court, he was sentenced to 15 months for breaching his suspended sentence, 8 months for stalking, and a further 4 months and 10 weeks for two SPO breaches, with all terms served consecutively.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Sorrell commended the victims for their cooperation, noting that POET’s efforts have removed a dangerous individual from the streets.
He pointed out that Allen had previously broken a suspended sentence and SPO and had served a shorter jail time before.
Officer Joseph Warne described Allen as a high-risk stalker whose SPO is managed by POET and stressed that breaching it leads to court action.
Authorities are working to impose stricter restrictions on his future releases to prevent any further offending.
