FORMER TEACHER JAILED FOR ABUSING BOYS
A teacher has been jailed after admitting to abusing three children on seven separate occasions.At Swindon Crown Court on June 4th, 39-year-old Chris Fox, a resident of Pinehurst, Swindon, was sentenced to nine years in prison, with a minimum of five years and three months to be served.
Judge Jason Taylor also ordered that Fox would remain on extended license for an additional three years and nine months and must adhere to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
It was revealed that Fox, who previously organized an archery club, had worked at multiple educational institutions in Swindon.
He groomed his young victims by offering gifts to build their trust.
The judge stated that Fox “cynically and manipulatively took advantage” of his position for sexual satisfaction.
Following the verdict, Detective Constable Lucy Hartshorn expressed: “Fox exploited his professional role and the trust placed in him to harm vulnerable children.
He used his involvement in teaching and archery to establish relationships with young males, gaining their trust and that of their parents, all while targeting his victims.
“Fox was familiar with the vulnerabilities of these children and intentionally sought them out at a critical stage of their growth, during puberty.
He falsely presented the sexual experiences he exposed them to as ‘normal,’ when in fact they were abusive and exploitative.
“He exerted control over his victims for years, preventing detection until the brave victims, now young men, came forward with their stories.
Thanks to their courage, steps can now be taken to prevent Fox from offending again.
“The community is grateful to these victims for their bravery in speaking out, which has enabled us to implement measures to monitor and restrict his access to children moving forward.”
