Austin-Saddington had an intimate relationship with Trengrove while working as a prison warder at HMP The Verne. The court heard that they had sex up to 40 times, often in prison workshops when no one was around. During this affair, she became pregnant but later lost the baby. After Trengrove was transferred to another prison, she attempted to carry out an act of artificial insemination using a syringe hidden in her bra, which Trengrove had wrapped in cling film with his sperm. She pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office but received a two-year suspended sentence, avoiding jail. The court also heard she had started working at Verne Prison in July 2019 and that her probation was extended due to suspicions of inappropriate relationships with prisoners. Trengrove, who admitted encouraging her misconduct, was sentenced to an additional two years and three months. The judge noted that if not for her recent accident, jail would have been immediate.
