CHARLOTTE PARKER'S SHOCKING TWO-YEAR AFFAIR WITH STUDENT IN BILLERICAY AND CHELMSFORD
In October 2014, a disturbing case emerged involving Charlotte Parker, a 32-year-old teaching assistant from Billericay, who admitted to engaging in a prolonged and inappropriate relationship with a teenage pupil at Hylands School in Chelmsford. The relationship spanned over two years, during which the pair exchanged approximately 3,000 messages via WhatsApp, revealing the extent of their secret communications.Charlotte Parker appeared at Basildon Crown Court to plead guilty to multiple charges related to her misconduct. She faced four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust, which included acts such as kissing the pupil, encouraging him to perform a sex act on himself through social media, and performing oral sex on him. Additionally, she admitted to two counts of making indecent photographs of a child. Her actions were described as a gross violation of trust and a serious offense by the presiding judge.
The court heard that the relationship between Parker and the pupil began after the student gave her a Christmas card. The victim, who has a long history of psychiatric issues, was working in classrooms at Chelmsford's Hylands School when the bond started to develop. Over time, their interactions escalated, with the pair exchanging thousands of messages that included inappropriate comments such as “You have had your hands everywhere” and “baby, did I kiss you too much.”
The relationship was only uncovered after the pupil confided in a family friend, revealing that he had been involved with Parker for two years. The family friend then facilitated a discussion with the pupil’s parents, who subsequently contacted the police in September. Prosecutor Austin Stoton explained that the victim was aware of Parker’s marriage and her mental health struggles, and believed they were in love, even fantasizing about buying a house together one day.
Charlotte Parker, who resides on Ravens Lane in Billericay, was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was instructed to undergo mental health treatment. She was handed a 12-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. The court also confirmed that she no longer works at Hylands School, reflecting the serious consequences of her actions. The case highlights the dangers of abuse of trust by individuals in positions of authority and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable students from exploitation.
