STALKER CHARLIE BROOKER JAILED FOR MAIDSTONE HARASSMENT
A man with no fixed address who called the police to declare he would never be caught has been sentenced to prison.Charlie Brooker admitted to causing a woman to fear violence through persistent stalking.
The 30-year-old carried out a harassment campaign against someone he knew, which involved making threats to pour acid on her face, stabbing her with a knife, and stomping on her head.
He also threatened to hurt her partner and damage her property.
Although the victim clearly expressed her desire for no contact, Brooker continued his abusive behavior over several months.
His threats were communicated in person, as well as through numerous text messages, emails, and online communications.
Brooker even sent the woman images of her car parked near her home in Maidstone and visited her workplace several times in an attempt to make contact.
On one occasion, he was seen holding a craft knife at her house.
After discovering that police had been alerted to his activities, Brooker left his home in December, sold his vehicle, and took measures to conceal his whereabouts from authorities.
He even called an officer to boast that he would never be caught.
Despite the precautions, he continued to send threatening messages until police located him at a house in Sidcup, where he was arrested in March.
Brooker was handed a prison sentence of two years and four months at Maidstone Crown Court on June 11.
PC Thomas Moss, the investigating officer, commented, "Brooker has shown himself to be a threatening and dangerous criminal.
"His persistent threats and abuse towards a vulnerable woman were both cowardly and sinister.
He should be ashamed of his behaviour.
"I would like to commend the bravery of the victim and witnesses who assisted us throughout this investigation and helped us bring this offender to justice."
