ISLE OF WIGHT MAN ADMITS CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER KIK STING
AN ISLE of Wight man who tried to groom someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl on the Kik phone app, has admitted a string of sexual offences and will be sentenced next month.Charlie Bolland, of Stephenson Road, Cowes, appeared before Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court after being snared in a police sting using the Kik messaging app.
The 25-year-old admitted: - Three charges of making indecent images of children (Categories A, B and C) - One charge of attempting sexual communication with a child under 16 - One charge of possessing two extreme pornographic images involving bestiality The offences took place in Newport between April 2019 and June 2020.
Prosecutor, Lauren McConnell, said Bolland began messaging on May 14, 2020 — sending a photo of himself aged 19, to someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl from Bournemouth.
In reality, it was an undercover police officer.
After receiving two decoy photos, Bolland replied he wanted to “teach her naughty stuff”, and later sent a selfie and several explicit images, asking for pictures of her in a bra.
Police arrested Bolland and seized his iPhone, which revealed 16 Category A child abuse images, 11 Category B and 18 Category C, plus two of extreme bestiality content.
No mitigation was offered on his behalf.
Bolland, with no previous convictions, was bailed for sentencing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on December 12.
He was ordered to register as a sex offender at Newport Police Station.
