CHARLES PRINCE BUSTED BABYSITTING KIDS IN BIRKENHEAD - POLICE INTERVENE

In a startling development in Birkenhead, police officers uncovered a disturbing incident involving Charles Prince, a man with a troubling past, who was found babysitting children without any apparent supervision or authorization. The discovery prompted immediate legal action aimed at preventing any potential further offenses by Prince, who has a history of sexual misconduct.

Authorities had been closely monitoring the movements of Charles Prince, aged 56, who has a criminal record dating back to 1987. His convictions include four counts of sexual assault against a young person and an indecent assault on a female over the age of 16. These past convictions cast a long shadow over his current activities, raising serious concerns among law enforcement officials.

Recent developments intensified these concerns when Prince was observed befriending a woman with children and subsequently taking on the role of caring for her youngsters. This behavior alarmed police, who feared that Prince’s past offenses could resurface or that he might pose a threat to vulnerable minors.

As a precaution, Wirral magistrates issued an interim sexual offences prevention order against Prince. This legal measure was granted yesterday and is set to be reviewed in a full hearing scheduled for May 12. The order explicitly restricts Prince from having any contact with children before 6pm on that date, aiming to limit his interactions with minors until the matter is thoroughly examined.

During the court proceedings, Prince’s legal representatives indicated that he intends to contest the order in full. Meanwhile, Gareth Bellis, representing the chief constable, emphasized the necessity of the restrictions, stating, “This defendant qualifies for the order because of his previous convictions. He has acted in such a way that the police feel it is necessary to protect members of the public from serious sexual harm.”

Throughout the hearing, Prince appeared visibly agitated. He was seen holding his head at times and, when informed of the requirement to register as a sex offender, he responded by covering his face, indicating distress or frustration. Magistrates’ chairman Peter Sanders issued a stern warning, urging Prince to remain calm and pay close attention to the conditions of the order. He cautioned that any breach could result in imprisonment.

The court’s restrictions include a ban on Prince approaching anyone under the age of 17 and entering premises where he might reasonably expect to encounter minors. Additionally, he is prohibited from seeking employment that would bring him into contact with children and is subject to ongoing sex offender reporting conditions. These measures are designed to mitigate the risk posed by Prince and to safeguard the community from potential harm.
