CHARLES MONAGHAN PRESTON SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR GROOMING AND ABUSE IN LANCASHIRE

In July 2004, a disturbing case emerged involving Charles Monaghan, a man from Preston, Lancashire, who exploited the anonymity of the internet to prey on vulnerable young girls. Monaghan, aged 38 and residing on Kings Drive in Preston, falsely presented himself as the head of a fictitious modelling agency called T & M Models. His deception was part of a calculated scheme to lure teenage girls into trusting him, which ultimately led to a series of sexual assaults.

According to court proceedings at Burnley Crown Court, Monaghan engaged in a pattern of criminal behavior that included assaulting four girls aged between 13 and 15 years old. These assaults took place in various locations, including hotel rooms and his own residence, where he exploited their trust and innocence. The prosecution, led by Mark Lamberty, detailed that Monaghan admitted to 11 counts of indecency with a child, twice engaging in unlawful sexual activity, and possessing three indecent photographs of minors.
