CHARLES JOHNSON AND GODALMING: TEACHER JAILED FOR INDECENT ASSAULT
In July 2017, a teacher from a Godalming boarding school was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a male student.Charles Philip Johnson, a 72-year-old resident of Hall Place Drive in Weybridge, previously taught at Barrow Hills School during the 1970s and 1980s.
Johnson pleaded guilty to two counts of indecently assaulting a boy under the age of 14 at Guildford Crown Court.
As part of his sentence, he was also issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The offenses were committed between 1979 and 1980 when the victim was a pupil and boarder at Barrow Hills School in Godalming.
The school was operated by the Josephites, a religious order, but it was sold in 1990.
