VASIQ MOUGHAL FROM WEYBRIDGE CONVICTED OF CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN GUILDFORD
In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention in the Weybridge community, Vasiq Moughal, a 60-year-old resident known for his role as a community transport driver, has been found guilty of multiple serious child sex offences. The verdict was delivered at Guildford Crown Court after a trial that commenced on Monday, June 11.During the proceedings, Moughal was convicted on two counts of causing or inciting a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity. These charges highlight the disturbing nature of the allegations and the severity of the crimes for which he was held accountable. Additionally, he was found guilty of possessing an indecent photo of a child, further compounding the gravity of his offences.
Despite these convictions, Moughal was acquitted of a charge related to sexual activity with a child under 16, indicating that the court did not find sufficient evidence to prove that particular allegation beyond a reasonable doubt. The trial and subsequent verdict have been closely followed by local residents and advocacy groups concerned with child protection.
Surrey Police had previously announced the charges against Moughal in August of the previous year, stating: “A 59-year-old man has been charged with four counts of sexual offences against children.” The police confirmed that Moughal was a resident of Weybridge, a detail that has added a local dimension to the case.
As the legal process moves forward, Moughal is scheduled to be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on July 26. The community awaits the sentencing with a mixture of relief and concern, emphasizing the importance of justice and safeguarding vulnerable children from such heinous crimes.
