CEDRIC DALEY FROM ENFIELD SLIPS AWAY JAIL TIME AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT IN MERTON

In a case that has shocked the local community, Cedric Daley, a 79-year-old resident of Enfield, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl at a community centre in Merton. The incident took place at the New Horizon Centre located in Pollards Hill, where Daley was known to volunteer.

According to court records, Daley admitted to touching a girl under the age of 13 in a sexual manner on two separate occasions during September. The court proceedings, held at Kingston Crown Court, revealed that Daley's actions included pulling the young girl into an alcove within the kitchen area of the community centre, a place where he was a regular presence.

Security footage from the centre captured Daley kissing and fondling the girl, actions that have caused widespread outrage. The footage showed him luring the girl into the secluded spot by asking for a hug, after which he gave her £2 and high-fived her, moments that have been described as sickening and deeply disturbing.

Daley's defense claimed that his actions were merely a joke, asserting that he had only been tweaking her nipples and denying any groping. However, the evidence against him was compelling enough to lead to a conviction.

In court, Daley was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years. This means that if he refrains from re-offending during this period, he will not serve time behind bars.

Furthermore, Daley has been placed on the sex offenders register for the next decade and is required to attend a sex offender’s rehabilitation program under supervision.
