YOUTH WORKER STEFAN CADEK SENTENCED IN ENFIELD FOR EXTREME CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In July 2017, a youth worker from Enfield was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of downloading and possessing a vast collection of child abuse images and videos. Stefan Cadek, who previously held a senior role within the borough’s youth services, was found to have downloaded 94,000 indecent images and 540 videos onto his mobile device before his detention.

Investigations revealed that nearly one-third of these materials consisted of the most extreme types, depicting serious acts of child abuse, including rape and sexual torture. Scotland Yard commented that Cadek’s crimes were "made all the more disturbing" by his previous employment as a senior youth worker for Enfield Council.

Following his conviction, Enfield Council publicly condemned Cadek’s actions. A spokesperson stated, "We are appalled that Stefan Cadek committed these disgraceful crimes and we are grateful to the police for securing his prosecution. We take all allegations of child abuse extremely seriously and investigate immediately any reports concerning child abuse."

The council confirmed that Cadek was suspended immediately after his arrest and was later dismissed for gross misconduct within the following month.

The legal case traces back to March 2014, when authorities were alerted to a Twitter user uploading 98 indecent images. These images, which depicted graphic child abuse scenes, were traced back to an email address and a computer registered to an address in Southwark. Multiple electronic devices, including computers and phones, were seized from this address.

Although Cadek had previously resided there, he had moved away by the time police executed the search. When officers arrested him at his workplace later that day, Cadek was observed dropping an iPhone into a drain as he exited the building. Police successfully recovered the device, uncovering a significant amount of abusive material stored inside.

Cadek was charged with related offenses, but it took three years before he appeared in court. His first appearance was at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court in April, followed by a transfer to Inner London Crown Court for sentencing. He was ultimately sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
