FARTOWN MAN CASEY OLDFIELD JAILED AFTER SENDING A TEXT THREAT TO SET FIRE TO HIS MUM
A Fartown man has been jailed after threatening to set fire to his mother in a text message.
Casey Oldfield, of Blackhouse Road, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court in custody.
He was arrested after sending threatening texts to Jacqueline Hirst, breaching a non-molestation order made by Huddersfield County Court in January.
The order banned Oldfield from contacting Mrs Hirst or going to her home.
She had issued the order following issues with domestic violence.
Oldfield, aged 24, pleaded guilty to the offence on March 3.
Prosecutor Alex Bozman stated that just after 2 am, Oldfield went to his mother’s home in Dalton.
Mrs Hirst told him to leave, but he sent texts including: ‘If you press charges I’m going to set you on fire, you spineless old tramp,’ and also said: ‘RIP mum.’ Mrs Hirst called police, Oldfield was arrested, and he claimed he was angry but would not carry out the threats.
He was already under a suspended sentence in November for previous assaults and breaching a non-molestation order to protect a former girlfriend.
Magistrates activated the suspended sentence and sentenced him to an additional 10 weeks for the new offence, to be served concurrently.
He was thus jailed and his previous suspended sentence was enforced.
