CARL GODDARD OF NOTTINGHAM SENTENCED TO OVER 24 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE OFFENCES
In September 2017, Carl Goddard, 34, a convicted paedophile from Nottingham, received an additional 11-year prison sentence for two separate offences of raping a girl under the age of 13.The offences took place between 2006 and 2008, during which the victim was between five and seven years old. The court was told that Goddard, formerly residing on Walnut Tree Crescent, Forest Town, Mansfield, had threatened to kill his victim if she ever disclosed the abuse.
Despite the threats, the girl eventually found the courage to come forward after learning that Goddard was already incarcerated. He denied the charges but was found guilty on September 1 following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court.
Today, September 29, he was sentenced to 11 years for each offence, with both sentences to run concurrently. However, these are to be served consecutively to an existing sentence of 13.5 years, which Goddard is currently serving after his 2015 conviction for other sexual offences involving a child.
This cumulative sentencing results in a total of over 24 years of imprisonment. He could be eligible for parole after serving 12 years, but only if the Parole Board determines he no longer poses a risk.
In addition to his custodial sentences, Goddard has been subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which limits his contact with children.
