COUNTY DURHAM MAN JAILED FOR ABUSIVE ATTACK AND THREATS TO HIS PARTNER
Carl Blower, a 34-year-old man from Ferryhill, was jailed for 32 months and received a seven-year restraining order after a series of violent and abusive actions against his partner.
The court court was informed that Blower attacked his partner, causing her to break her collar bone, and then coerced her into lying to police by instructing her that her injuries resulted from a motocross fall.
The attack was initiated after Blower took offense at a Facebook notification her received, which led him to slam her onto the floor, injuring her further.
Months later, he subjected her to another assault while she was a passenger in his vehicle, which involved driving dangerously at high speeds and leading police on a chase that exceeded speeds of 60mph in 30mph zones, eventually ending in Heworth.
During the harassment, Blower made threatening calls, telling her he should have 'sliced' her neck and threatening to break her jaw, leaving her with significant mental health issues.
The woman described feeling terrified, anxious, and depressed due to his relentless abuse.
The court heard that Blower had pleaded guilty to charges including dangerous driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault, and witness intimidation.
The judge sentenced him to 32 months in prison, banned him from driving for 28 months, and imposed a seven-year restraining order.
His offenses highlighted a pattern of violence against his partner, who suffers from ADHD and autism, and included a dangerous police chase through several areas, including Sunderland and South Shields.
