FERRYHILL MAN BARRED FROM FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TINDER AND SNAPCHAT,
A man issued with a sexual risk order was brought before a judge after he tried to contact a child more than 500 times from prison.Adam Brown was made subject to a three-year sexual risk order to prevent him from contacting underage girls and monitor his online activities in January this year.
He was barred from using online apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Tinder and Snapchat, without informing his offender manager about his activities.
Court documents revealed that while he was in Holme House in Stockton, he used the prison phone to contact a child under the age of 18 on 327 occasions and attempted to contact her a further 181 times, which he was prohibited from doing by the order.
The 43-year-old, formerly of Ferryhill, was due to be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court after admitting breaching the order before January 28 and April 8.
Judge Richard Clews adjourned the hearing to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be carried out.
“There is no pre-sentence report,” he said.
“It is something of a surprise that the magistrates’ court did not call for such a report as there should be one.
“It is in your interest to co-operate but there is no guarantee or any indication of what the sentence will be, all options, including custody, will be under consideration.” Brown, who appeared in court via a prison video link, was remanded in custody until June 25 when he will be sentenced.
