SWANSEA MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR CRUELTY TO DOG
A man named Cameron Lee Wilson from Swansea has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after CCTV footage captured him hitting and dropping a Jack Russell Terrier named Casper.
The incident occurred on March 16 in the area of Pentrepoeth Road, Morriston.
Wilson was seen repeatedly hitting the dog and dropping him to the ground, causing unnecessary pain and suffering.
The footage shows Wilson, who is 18 years old, lifting the dog horizontally and then dropping him from chest height onto a flat concrete floor.
In addition, he struck the dog seven times to the head with force and caused the dog to cower and run away.
Wilson, who admitted to causing the dog harm under the Animal Welfare Act, appeared at Swansea Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty.
A vet's statement confirmed that the dog was struck multiple times with force and dropped from height, which would have caused pain and suffering.
Wilson was also disqualified from keeping all animals for 10 years and ordered to pay £400 in costs.
Fortunately, Casper did not suffer any injuries from the attack.
The investigating officer expressed that every animal deserves kindness and condemned the cruel treatment.
