CAMILLE FISHER FROM FLITWICK SHOCKS COMMUNITY WITH CRUELTY TOWARD BLUEY THE CANE CORSO DOG
Cameron Fisher, a resident of Greenways in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, born around the year 2000, has been convicted of a disturbing act of animal cruelty that has shocked the local community and animal welfare advocates alike.Fisher was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a female Cane Corso dog named Bluey, whom he subjected to physical abuse with a bat. The incident, which took place in Flitwick, was captured on video and subsequently brought to court’s attention, revealing the extent of Fisher’s cruelty.
The footage shown during the trial depicted Fisher wielding what appeared to be a small or child's baseball bat, striking downwards at Bluey while she was confined in a dog training crate. The attack was carried out with apparent force, and the dog was heard yelping loudly in response. Although the video footage was partially obscured by a fence, it was clear that Bluey was hit with significant force, causing her to cry out for an extended period.
In the recording, Fisher can be heard speaking to Bluey, uttering the words, “What you f**** keep moving for,” a statement that underscores the malicious intent behind the act. The incident was reported to authorities, leading to Fisher’s arrest and the seizure of Bluey in September 2022.
Following the arrest, RSPCA Inspector Jon Knight took charge of the investigation into the welfare of Bluey. The dog was examined by a veterinarian, who found that she was approximately 5 kilograms underweight and exhibited signs of possible overexertion in her forelimbs, likely due to a lack of proper exercise and care. The veterinarian prescribed flea and worm treatments to address her health issues.
Veterinary experts who reviewed the footage described the abuse as both deliberate and repeated, noting the evidence of verbal and physical mistreatment. The report highlighted that Bluey was visibly frightened and cowering in the presence of her owner, indicating a pattern of ongoing abuse and neglect.
In a statement following the case, Inspector Knight expressed relief and gratitude, saying, “I am so pleased that we were able to help Bluey and that she can now live the rest of her life without fear. We are grateful to everyone involved with this case. This incident highlights that it is never acceptable to physically abuse your dog.”
Thanks to the efforts of the RSPCA, Bluey was successfully rehomed, ensuring she would no longer be subjected to such cruelty.
In sentencing, Fisher received a 12-month community order, which includes 150 hours of unpaid work and a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. Additionally, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £1,000 and was handed a lifetime ban on keeping any animals, a measure aimed at preventing further abuse.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences faced by those who commit acts of cruelty against defenseless animals in Flitwick and beyond.
